Treatment doesn’t end at discharge. Patients report leaving with education, appointments, crisis resources and a recovery plan.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Aug. 28, 2026
An average of 99% of patients reported confidence in a plan of action for continued recovery after discharge from The Haven Detox Group. The results also showed high marks for safety, with an average of 97% reporting they felt safe during treatment.
The survey highlights a bigger picture of patients’ state of mind as they prepare to leave treatment. Patients trust staff and feel psychologically safe enough to focus on treatment. They felt comfortable turning to staff for help and described receiving education, follow-up appointments and crisis resources to support continued recovery.
Results are based on exit surveys completed by 823 clients discharged between April 1 and June 30, 2026, with a response rate of 47% across all of The Haven Detox Group facilities.
“The real test of treatment is whether patients leave believing they can take the next step,” said Nick Vacarino, regional executive director at The Haven Detox Group. “What matters is that patients feel empowered. They should know their next step, where to find support and what to do when recovery gets tough.”
Patient feedback also showed consistently high scores on measures of physical and emotional safety. An average of 96% felt comfortable seeking staff help if they felt like harming themselves or someone else and 97% positively rated safety as a priority.
That sense of safety is an important foundation for addiction and mental health treatment, allowing patients to focus on their treatment goals and feel comfortable seeking support when needed.
Survey findings also showed that patients responded receiving tools and resources intended to support recovery beyond discharge. An average of 97% indicated receiving education about their substance use problems, while 96% expressed receiving relapse-prevention education they believed would benefit them after treatment.
Patients felt ready to tackle life outside treatment sober. An average of 95% said their aftercare plan included follow-up appointments based on their individual needs, while 96% said they received resources to use in the event of a crisis after discharge.
The high level of confidence was consistent across the organization, with patients across every Haven Detox location represented in the second-quarter survey data scoring at least 96% on the measure.
“Discharge planning should help patients understand what comes next,” said Dr. Sal Raichbach, chief clinical officer of The Haven Detox Group. “Follow-up care, relapse-prevention tools and crisis resources can help provide structure and support as patients transition from a treatment setting back into their daily lives.”
The second-quarter results are based on facility-level patient satisfaction survey reports. Networkwide percentages cited in this release are rounded, survey-volume-weighted averages calculated from each facility’s score and number of completed surveys. The survey measures patients’ reported experiences and perceptions and should not be interpreted as long-term clinical outcomes.
What matters is that patients feel empowered. They should know their next step, where to find support and what to do when recovery gets tough.
